After a single use my tight itchy dry scalp was relieved. Didn't need to add additional oils or dry scalp treatments. My dry scalp gets bad in the winter- dry and tight and itchy and annoying as my hair air dries- even after applying dry scalp oil to my scalp immediately after washing my hair.My scalp reacts badly to sulfates shampoos -drying out and overwhelming production of flakes. However, the coal tar ingredient sooths my scalp where I don't produce dry flakes as my hair air dries.The smell is indeed unpleasant. The smells lingers in the bathroom after a shower and reemerges anytime someone takes a shower. But the benefits outway the smell. I wash my hair twice in a shower session so I use this shampoo first and then a lemon scented moisturizing shampoo bar to cover the smell. My partner says that they don't smell the coal tar when I do this so yay.
